I guess the "baby whisperer" was 99% right about the May 5th thing. I was pretty crabby that day when nothing seemed to be happening. I actually emailed my doctor asking for a mercy-induction for this upcoming Saturday since it would only be a few days early :) Ha, didn't need that apparently. We got home from work on Wednesday, ate dinner and took Aidan for a walk around the block. Everyone got settled down for the night and we had just gotten in bed at about 9:30 (party animals that we are). Not 2 minutes later, I felt a little something, um warm, on my leg and JUMPED out of bed. Oh lordy, my water broke. Well I actually wasn't sure at that moment. I thought I had peed my pants at that point LOL. I told Chad that I thought my water had broken. He said, "are you sure?" My answer, "um no." So I thought I would just go see if I had to pee. Well, let's just say I became quite sure that my water had broken. GLAD I WAS AT HOME. This wasn't the gentle trickle, this was the movie-kind of water breaking. We called our neighbor to come over to sit with Aidan until my parents could make it and we headed to the hospital.
By the time we had gotten there, EVERYONE was sure my water had broken and they checked us right in. The contractions had started so I was hooked up and monitored. My mom and dad were at our house just 25 minutes later or so, so Aidan was set. The doctors decided to start oxytocin to get me moving along since the water breaking. Chad thought we should document the fact that the contractions were now registering off the charts :) Good thing for an epidural...

Oh and this is his documentation of my "smile" during the said-contraction...

Things got a little scary as Elin's heartrate decided to plummet with every contraction. Apparently this is common with water-breakers. It scared the crap out of me. They had me roll to one side then the other to see if it helped. Finally they opted to put me on oxygen (SCARY) and it seemed to help enough. Luckily I was a fast laborer. Five hours later I called the nurse because I was feeling some pressure, they checked me and I was to an 8, YAY! She left and I buzzed her 5 minutes later asking what the heck was going on because there was A LOT of pressure now. Seems we were ready to go! They called the docs in and 7 minutes and 3 contractions later, little Elin Grace was here. Every doctor was absolutely SHOCKED that she was only 6 lbs 14 oz. Aidan was 9 lbs 4 oz and they were all SURE she was at LEAST that...ha, delivery was a lot different that is for sure! She came out screaming her head off and we were thrilled!! Everyone is doing good. Aidan loves being a big brother (So far, ha).
