What's Going On This Week

Not a whole lot of extracurriculars are happening this week. If you have been even mildly paying attention to the news you will know that there have been a TON of nasty spring storms all over the Midwest. What does that mean? Momma is a workin' fool. The insurance world gets a little bananas when Mother Nature gets crabby. So that is where I have been all week. There haven't been any developments otherwise in our lives either. The house is moving along nicely as we have had great weather in our area this week. I have been working on a design for my closet to best utilize the great space I, I mean we, have :)

Yesterday after work, Aidan and I headed out to see the progress. It really looks like our house now! From here you can see the beginnings of our front porch: I also took a bunch of photos inside, but now that I look at them they really look like a hot mess of 2 x 4s. Actually I don't even know if those are 2 x 4s LOL. Wood. Yes, lots of wood. Made into walls. Standing in there I could totally tell you what we were looking at, but little photos, ha a little trickier now.

I am about 90% sure I am standing in the kitchen looking at what will be the wall that has the dishwasher and such. You can see the steps in the main room going up to the kiddos' rooms.

I am standing in our living room for this. My phone only zooms out so far so it is kind of an awkward photo. Also, Leroy and his partner were upstairs with nail guns and saws so we were trying to avoid their general area, you know, for safety reasons...

This is standing in the kitchen/eat in area. I think. LOL. Somewhere in the vicinity of our kitchen at least!

Here is standing in the middle of the living room looking towards the front door:

It was really beautiful out yesterday and the views were fantastic. They really remind me why I am so excited to move out to the country (Sarah, I know that sentence made you fall out of your seat in shock. Breathe.) This is actually the view from our living room. We have some giant windows there looking out. I am so excited with how things are turning out so far.

It took me like 10 minutes to figure out what the heck I took of picture of here, but then I figured it out :) This is standing in the eat in part of the kitchen looking down the little hall. There is the garage entry, a bathroom, closet and laundry room down there.

Also I felt it was important to note the footwear I was sporting while I was hobbling around a construction site:

Oh yes. And I didn't even fall down or injure myself. Leroy had a good laugh at me out there.

So there it is. Our house as it sits. We are so excited for this. It is so amazing to go out there each week (or more often if I get my way, hehe) and see what is happening. I love that Aidan can see all of this too and understands what's happening. He asks lots of questions and wants to go out there any chance we will let him. I am just going to assume that Elin is excited too :)

Happy Friday!

Easter Birthday Extravaganza

We celebrated Elin's birthday this weekend since Grandma and Grandpa V could be with us! They came over with Mark and Rebecca for a party and some fun. The kids got their Easter baskets from them as well. We had cake and lunch and then the kiddos played with all the grandparents.

Elin and her birthday ensemble

We had a princess cake and tiny cake for Elin. She thought the tiara was a lot of fun.

She CLEARLY enjoyed her cake. She kept putting the tiara on (even though it was covered in frosting)

She got some great gifts and loved having everyone playing with her

Thought I would post this to make Chad so proud. Hmmm, looks like a little role reversal:

I will give Aidan some credit as the ring was some sort of destroying/shooting ring that attacked people, but I have no excuse for him wearing the tiara LOL

Elin opening gifts

She got this little get up from Becca and Mark. It is ADORABLE. Her name is on her jacket and hat.

Grandma and Grandpa H got her a fantastic sand and water table...that proceeded to get set up indoors.

The men (minus Grandpa V) manning their spots on the couch...

After all of the birthday festivities, Aidan dyed Easter eggs with The Roommates.

Aidan's picture of mom (clearly this is where the crown belongs...hahaha)

The kiddos on Easter

It was a cold and gloomy day so not a lot of outdoor Easter egg hunting. Though there was no shortage of indoor fun as Aidan had his Bakugan to keep everyone entertained (no sarcasm there AT ALL)

We had a delicious dinner...Chad set out the rolls before baking and notice our little friend and her permanent position until the food was ready...

Checking out the Easter goods...

Aidan and his Bakugans

The kid loves him a Bakugan. I can now officially say that I know how to pronounce them. Hopefully Chad will figure it out one day too.

Aidan snapped this photo of Elin while they were playing last night:

Those two were wrestling around and laughing their rears off. It was so funny to watch. We had a fantastic weekend. I just wish the weather would have been a bit better!!

Elin's real birthday is coming up! We are going to have a Cinco de Mayo theme for our little bebe in honor of her ALMOST May 5th birthday (May 6 at 3am...so close!).

Happy Monday!

Turkey Hunting

This weekend Aidan wanted to go hunting with Chad. Since we are in Jeff City it meant that the boys would have to get up VERY early. Like 4:15am. I triple checked with Aidan that he was aware of this information. He was. He was PUMPED. He got right up when he had to and went off with Chad. To say they had a blast, would not accurately describe what we heard about when he got back :)

My hunters... Hunter, Jamey and Aidan

They heard all sorts of "nature" out there. Aidan was thrilled that he got to pee outside. I know, right!? He got muddy and gross. Loved every second of it.

Safe to say we have a little hunter on our hands!

Moving on Up!

Woo hoo!! The main floor is done! As soon as this ridiculous weather moves on, they will begin on the upstairs and then framing is complete! It is finally lookings like a house! I figured I would label the front windows so you can kind of get an idea of where things are going: The only reason I have "master closet" on there is because that front window is actually in the closet. I had to have the window on the front so everything on the front of the house would be equal and not off balance. Clearly it isn't a window that will serve any purpose except making the front of our house look pretty :)

From the side...

Here's hoping to sunshine next week!!

Princess Diana

Yesterday, Jamey, Cindy and I met Julie to go throught the Diana: A Celebration exhibit that in in Kansas City. It was amazing. We weren't allowed to take any photos once we went all the way in, but I highly suggest it to anyone that can get there in the next month. I believe it is at Union Station until June. The first part of the exhibit was about her childhood, her relatives, and other things like that. They had family jewels, home movies and others things that were amazing to see. It went through her life, wedding, funeral, and there was a room with about 20 dresses of hers. It was just awesome. I wish I could have gotten photos, but I didn't really want to be thrown in jail (we already were concerned over our possibly illegal parking and the threat of our vehicle being "immobilized").

We also got to eat some yummy lunch and do a bit of shopping of course! It was a great girls day off of work for sure!!

Progress

Today we ran out to the house to check on the progress and see some sizes in real life. I realize that these pictures essentially look the same, but they are different and show the progress so yeah :) Leroy was framing away when we were there. The basement is completely done and the main floor should be done today as long as the rain holds off a bit. Hopefully they will then be able to cover the walls and move on to the upper floor before long!! It is getting a lot easier to "see" things now that the actual walls are up.
Pretty sure Leroy is sick of seeing me :)

Big Steps

Aidan rode his bike this weekend...notice the wheels... Made it 2 laps with no training wheels!

With no serious (or even minor!) injury!

Main Floor!!

Well, in theory....here is where we are on the framing of the main floor: The weather SUCKED today so that didn't help. Here's hoping for some sunshine!
Enjoy your weekend!!

UNDER ARREST!?

Well I never thought it would happen (or at least this soon??!?!?! HAHAHA)...We paid a little visit to the police station. It all started when the poor kids had to go for a ride: Aidan and Elin shouldn't have been so sassy! Listen to your momma and you won't end up like these hooligans...
Their co-conspirator, Drew, was taken in with them...look at that guilty face!
Well the kids were rough and tough, the SWAT team was called in...
Oh lordy, the kids overtook the SWAT TEAM!?
All right then! All witnesses must now subject themselves to the polygraph...hmm wonder if the two criminals hanging on me will affect the results???

All kids, time for the line up!Yup. That is definitely them. BOOK 'EM!

MOST WANTED #1: ELIN

MOST WANTED #2: AIDAN Wait, that was too cheery of a face of a jailbird....try again:

Ahhh, that's better! Time for prints!!
Those sticky fingers have been everywhere!!! Well, you guys can wait in the holding cell while they call your parents!!

Aidan and Drew

Hmmm, evidence I see...

Checking ballistics...
Handling the SWAT gear...
Taking a lesson on gas-throwing guns (Aidan was AMAZED at this)
911, what's your emergency?
Making their escape on the bikes...

Saturday we got to meet up with Deric, Jamey and Drew and take the kids through the police station. I thought Aidan was going to pee his pants he was so excited. They got to see all the things that police do and see all the really cool places in the station, not to mention climb in the cars!!! It was a blast. Chad was even jealous that he wasn't with us! Guess we will be going back!

In case you didn't figure it out, my children are not currently in jail and do not at this time have any sort of criminal record:)
