I'm On A Boat

Not actually. More like a dock. And I was only on it for a few minutes to assist in the placing of said dock. One of the many projects that got completed last weekend was a dock for the pond. I honestly had no idea my dear hubby had the skills or knowledge to complete such a task! But the stud that he is, he rocked it of course!! Here is how it went down:

Fetch a ton of lumber (actually we only made officially 4 trips to Home Depot over the weekend...pretty sure we were starting to make them wonder) Make a box
Cover the box (do you like my very official terms for this?!) Do the same with your walkway:

PS...I am sure Jamey is loving that I have him all over the Internet with his shirt off :) Also these photos make it look like he did all the work!! Hmmm, maybe Chad DIDN'T help??? No, he did. I actually witnessed it.
This is where MY muscles came in. We had to HOIST the dock onto the back of the truck to take it down to the pond. How much does such a thing weigh?? Like 10,000 lbs. Not really but it was over 500. Holy Balls. But we did it. And I wanted to cry.
Down by the pond:

See that one missing plank? That resulted in trip #2 to Home Depot.

The dock was floated with barrels which required me to stand in one corner of the dock WHILE IT WAS IN THE WATER while the men lifted it up and put barrels underneath. I was petrified. I WAS NOT going to end up in the water. And luckily (for them!!!) I did not.

It is now floating just dandy in the pond and the walkway is all attached (Home Depot trip #3). And in case you are wondering, Trip #4 was a result of a purchase made on Trip #3. We ended up with not only the supplies to attach the walkway, but also a wooden playset/slide for the kids. We THOUGHT we got everything we needed per the box. Well, the next day, when you OPEN the box you see it requires some serious lumber. Hence TRIP #4.

Also important? I went on Trip #4 without the men. The lovely man at HD loaded all my lumber on the cart and said "there you go!" Um huh? Yup. That was it. I checked out and they made me load the 8 and 10 foot 4x4s MYSELF. ARE YOU KIDDING ME????!!? Luckily my sister was with or I would have fallen over. You would think after 4 trips they would appreciate our business!! :)

But me and my muscles got it handled and the playset is ALMOST done. Yes, it's not quite done. Mother Nature has slowed that process down. Hey! At least we have all the parts!!
